Ole Miss releases statement on passing of freshman DE Corey Adams
Ole Miss has issued a statement on the death of freshman defensive end Corey Adams.
Police identified Adams as the victim of a homicide in a shooting that took place on Saturday night in Cordova, Tennessee. According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, police attempted life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Here’s the statement from Ole Miss:
We are devastated to learn that Corey Adams, a freshman on the team, passed away last night in Cordova, Tennessee. While our program is trying to cope with this tragic loss, our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Out of respect for his family, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask the Ole Miss community to keep Corey in their thoughts and respect the privacy of everyone involved.
Adams enrolled at Ole Miss in January as a 3-star prospect and went through spring practice with the Rebels. A former 3-star prospect, Adams chose Ole Miss over numerous other power-conference programs.
Prior to joining Ole Miss, Adams attended Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
