Ole Miss was up early on Georgia in the second quarter, but mistakes hurt the team heading into the half. First, trailing 14-12, star running back Kewan Lacy fumbled and Georgia star defensive back Daylen Everette picked it up and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown.

At the end of the first half, the Rebels were trailing by nine, but were in field goal range with just seconds remaining. Tight end Dae’Quan Wright caught a pass, but instead of getting out of bounds, he cut up field and was tackled short of the first down line and the clock ran out.

Rebels kicker Lucas Carneiro had already showed that he was more than capable of making a deep field, as he made kicks of 55 and 56 yards that would have been good from much further.

The Rebels are playing this game without Lane Kiffin, who is now the coach at LSU. Pete Golding is now the head coach of the Rebels, but the team wasn’t on the same page at all when it came to executing at the end of the half.

The winner of this game will be in action on Jan. 8 in the Fiesta Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes, with a spot in the college football national championship on the line.
