Former Oregon edge rusher Blake Purchase has committed to transfer to Ole Miss, according to multiple reports.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Purchase has already signed with the program. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound defender spent 3 seasons in Eugene with the Ducks and comes to Oxford with 2 years of eligibility remaining.
Purchase signed with Oregon as a 4-star, top-300 recruit out of the 2023 class. As a true freshman, the Colorado native played in all 14 games for an Oregon team that played for a conference championship and won the Fiesta Bowl. He made just 5 tackles in his first season with the program, but he showed a penchant for playmaking, recording 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 pass breakup.
As a sophomore in 2024, Purchase saw a reduced role and opted for a redshirt. He appeared in 6 total games, including the Big Ten Championship win over Penn State and the College Football Playoff loss to Ohio State.
This past season, Purchase returned to the rotation and earned his first 2 career starts. He played in all 15 games for the Ducks, producing 32 total tackles, 4.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 pass breakups, an interception, and a blocked kick. He also had 14 quarterback pressures.
In more than 350 defensive snaps, Purchase did not miss a single tackle. His 90.0 tackling grade from PFF was the best of any Duck defender who stepped on the field last season. His 14 pressures were the fifth-most on the team.
Purchase is the 20th transfer to publicly commit to Ole Miss this window. He’s also the third edge rusher.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
