Ole Miss to hire multiple staffers to key front office roles, per reports
The primary focus for Ole Miss the past week or so has been on Georgia, which it will face in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals on Jan. 1. However, in this day and age, you’ve got to keep 1 eye on the present and another on the future. Friday morning, we found out the Rebels have been doing just that.
According to reports from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Ole Miss is hiring Jai Choudhary as its director of player personnel. The Rebels are also making Jake Sugarman their new director of scouting.
To make matters more intriguing, both Choudhary and Sugarman have ties to LSU. Choudhary worked for the Tigers in 2025 after a 3-year run with Ole Miss (2022-24). Sugarman, who comes to Oxford from UCLA, spent time in LSU’s personnel and recruiting department before joining the Bruins.
Perhaps it’s merely a coincidence that Choudhary and Sugarman once called Baton Rouge home. Neither man is the first former LSU coach or staffer the Rebels have hired for the 2026 season, though. Earlier this month, they brought former Tigers general manager Austin Thomas into their program and lured LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson to town. This all, of course, transpired after the Tigers poached Lane Kiffin to be their head coach.
The staff swapping between Ole Miss and LSU have set the stage for an incredible bout next season. There may be no hotter ticket in the country than for their matchup in Oxford on Sept. 19. The Rebels are currently much more concerned with their contest against the Bulldogs, though, than anything Tiger-related. Ole Miss and Georgia wrap up CFP Quarterfinal play at 8:00 p.m. ET on New Year’s Day.
