Omarion Hampton has been one of the best running backs in all of college football this year, as he entered Saturday with the 4th most rushing yards in the country with 1,475 yards.
He has been without a question the leader of the North Carolina offense all year, and he is adding to those numbers in the regular season finale against NC State.
With the Tar Heels trailing 10-6 in the 3rd quarter, Hampton took it 75 yards to put his team back in the lead.
GONE @OmarionHampton. We’re up 13-10.

Not only is Hampton moving up in this year’s NCAA rushing leaders, he is also moving up the all-time rankings at North Carolina. He entered this game 5th all-time in rushing yardage, but has since passed Michael Carter to move to 4th. With the Tar Heels being bowl eligible, there is still an outside chance that he could make it all the way to No. 2.
It has been an emotional week thus far for North Carolina, as it was announced that coach Mack Brown would not be returning to Chapel Hill in 2025. Getting a win against their in-state rival would be a great way for the Tar Heels to end the 2024 regular season. The Wolfpack entered Saturday with a 5-6 record, and need to win the game in order to become bowl eligible.
