If you asked recruiting experts to name the headliner of Tennessee’s 2016 recruiting class, you probably wouldn’t get many responses saying “Tyler Byrd.”
Byrd, a former four-star prospect from Naples, Fla., was the fourth-highest rated signee of the class according to 247Sports. Knoxville radio host Jimmy Hyams talked to one source who is already very impressed with Byrd.
“He’s our quickest kid,” Hyams’ source said of Byrd. “He’s going to be special. He may be the steal of the class. He’s got raw talent.”
The U.S. Army All-American is listed as both a cornerback and wide receiver, but appears most likely to receive playing time on offense this fall.
