A couple of weeks after the first FBS program — UTEP — parted ways with its head coach, the second domino on the coaching carousel has fallen, and this time it’s a Pac-12 school with a vacancy.
According to an email sent to Oregon State students, the Beavers have “agreed to mutually part” with coach Gary Andersen.
According to the email, assistant coach Cory Hall will take over as the interim head coach, effective immediately:

The Beavers are a disappointing 1-5 this season, with their lone victory coming by three points over FCS Portland State in Week 2.
For Andersen, it continues the roller coaster trajectory of his career. After leading Utah State from 2009-2012, he left for Wisconsin and coached the Badgers in 2013 and 2014.
He then left Madison to take the Oregon State job, which he’s held since 2015. As part of his release, he reportedly agreed to forego any future payments the school owed him:
Gary Andersen agreed to release Oregon State from all future payments and contract obligations. He was owed $$$ through 2021 season.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see who the Beavers get to try to turn around a program that has struggled mightily in recent years.
