Oscar Chapman now understands what the Iron Bowl is all about, but it took him a while to get acclimated to that as part of the overall culture in the United States.
The Auburn punter from Australia said the last 2 seasons of college football environments were at the top of his “wow” moments in getting used to life in the U.S. Even the limited crowds in 2020 were amazing, and last year’s Iron Bowl was, “the peak of everything. This is insane.”
Chapman had several booming punts last season, including a pair of 57-yard punts against Arkansas, and a 65-yard kick against Ole Miss, which was a season long. He ranked second in the SEC with a 44.1 average on 57 kicks for the season, with 23 inside the 20.
