Oscar Delp suffered an ankle injury late in the 2nd quarter of Georgia’s game against Tennessee Tech. He ultimatelty did return to the field, albeit briefly, before Georgia announced during the 3rd quarter that the junior tight end was done for the day.

Delp had made 1 catch for 13 yards for the Bulldogs before exiting the game. He played against Clemson but did not record any stats.

In 2023, he made 24 catches for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns as the No. 2 TE on the depth chart behind Brock Bowers. With Bowers now in the NFL, that opened up an opportunity for Delp — considered the No. 1 tight end recruit in the county in the 2022 recruiting class — to emerge in his junior season. So far, his 2024 season has gotten off to a slow start, further aggravated by the injury.

Kirby Smart will surely address the early prognois of Delp during his postgame press conference. Meanwhile, the Dawgs are crusing, leading Tennessee Tech 45-0 in the 3rd quarter. They’ll improve to 2-0 and will travel to face Kentucky in Week 3 for a Saturday night matchup.
