Oscar Tshiebwe was dominant in the post for Kentucky this past season. He put up numbers not seen in Division I men’s basketball in more than 40 years.
The first-year Kentucky big man averaged 17.4 points, 15.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 assists per game for the Wildcats this year.
And, on Sunday in New Orleans, he added a major trophy to his collection. As you can see below, Tshiebwe won the Naismith Trophy, given annually to the nation’s top men’s basketball player:

Tshiebwe’s dominance on the boards is a big reason why he was named the winner of this award. But, his offense was also great for the Wildcats.
Now, Tshiebwe faces a tough decision on whether to enter the 2022 NBA Draft or return to Kentucky for 1 more year to continue hone his skills. Opponents on Kentucky’s 2022-23 schedule will certainly hope he opts for the pros.
