Cal is hosting Idaho from the FCS ranks in Week 3.
It’s probably a good thing few are on hand to watch it.
A week after giving Auburn all it could handle in a late-night, cross-country contest, Cal fell down 17-0 early against the Vandals. The Golden Bears managed a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to claw within three points at the half, but still trailed 17-14 at the break.
The crowd on hand to watch the first half looked depressing. Here was the scene five minutes before kickoff:

In the 14-10 loss to Auburn a week ago, Cal announced an attendance of 44,141.
That number will be a little lighter on Saturday.
Auburn ripped off a 10-play, 69-yard drive in the fourth quarter to score what became the game-winning touchdown with 6:31 to play. Cal had a chance to come back, but quarterback Sam Jackson V was picked off on a fourth-and-13 from the Auburn 18 to effectively end the game.
Jackson had two first-half touchdown passes against Idaho on Saturday, but the Bears gave up 248 yards of offense at nearly 6 yards a play.
The game is on the Pac-12 Network, so even the fans who decided to stay home will have a tough time finding it.
