Two former SEC standouts have been placed on the injured reserve by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Former Kentucky star Josh Allen suffered a knee injury on Sunday, while rookie Daniel Thomas out of Auburn is dealing with an arm injury after he made an interception in the game.
Allen was injured with about 9 minutes to play in the third quarter, The Florida Times-Union reported. He was down on the field holding his left knee after a 4-yard completion from Ben Roethlisberger to JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Allen was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He had 13 tackles with 2.5 sacks in seven games this season coming into Sunday’s game. Allen, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie last season, missed time earlier this season with another knee injury.
Thomas was a fifth-round pick by the Jaguars.
“I feel like I’m an all-around safety,” Thomas told the local media, per Big Cat Country, shortly following his selection. “A true competitor, you know a guy that’s gonna be always around the ball, so like I said, whatever they need me to do I’m gonna do it.”
DE Josh Allen (knee), CB D.J. Hayden (hamstring), and S Daniel Thomas (arm) have been placed on injured reserve.
