The transfer portal is set to explode after the end of Week 14, but the chaos has already started in Starkville, Mississippi.
Mississippi State finished its season on Friday against Ole Miss, falling to the rival Rebels 26-14 in a mostly competitive contest. With the loss, the Bulldogs finish Year 1 under Jeff Lebby with a 2-10 record.
Shortly following the loss, wide receivers JJ Harrell (true freshman) and Creed Whittemore (sophomore) entered the transfer portal.
Harrell is a former 4-star prospect who was once committed to Tennessee before flipping his commitment to Lebby’s Bulldogs. He did not see action for Mississippi State in 2024.

Whittemore has a little more experience in college football. He burned his redshirt in 2023, appearing in 5 games to total 11 receptions for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. This past season Whittemore barely saw the field after a strong start, posting 4 receptions for 65 yards. He also rushed for a touchdown against Eastern Kentucky.

These 2 receivers are certainly not going to be the last Bulldogs to enter the transfer portal. Mississippi State was the least impressive team in the SEC this season, but there’s plenty of potential on that roster – especially on offense.
Now, we wait.
