Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit alter deal for GameDay kicker after missed attempt

Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit made a bit of a change to their usual routine on College GameDay.
Every week, College GameDay picks a student to attempt a field goal for $500K – $300K from Pat and $200K from Kirk. Sometimes, a candidate is picked and realizes they won’t be able to make the field goal, so they defer their kick to another student and share the prize money.
This week’s winner, Gabby, won the contest and decided to try the kick herself. It went… not well, to put it nicely. Instead of letting her attempt again, as McAfee usually does after a missed first attempt, he told Gabby that if Herbstreit could throw the ball through the uprights, she’d win the $300K. Of course, the former Ohio State quarterback split the uprights, prompting pure jubilation from Gabby.

This is a pretty cool gesture from McAfee, who did not in any way have to do this following what was an… unfortunate attempt. Some people online disagree, but it’s hard not to love that reaction from what will no doubt turn out to be a life-changing moment for a college student.
College GameDay is on location for Vanderbilt at Alabama, which will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
