Pat McAfee to pay for WVU student’s tuition thanks to unbelievable Deuce McBride shot
The Pat McAfee Show was live from Morgantown, West Virginia on Friday in anticipation of the Mountaineers’ massive Week 1 showdown against Penn State.
McAfee brought in former West Virginia basketball star (and current New York Knick) Deuce McBride to be a guest on the show. But more notably, he gave McBride the opportunity to hit a shot from long range — estimated to be beyond half-court — with a WVU student’s tuition on the line.
McBride drained the shot over hundreds of WVU fans who were in attendance at the show:

This was not McAfee’s only philanthropic contribution of the day. He also announced plans to donate $1 million to the West Virginia NIL collective in honor of the Mountaineer teams that he played on during his collegiate career.
McBride was a 2nd round pick out of West Virginia in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s become a solid NBA role player, as he averaged nearly 20 minutes per game last season for a Knicks team that captured the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
West Virginia and Penn State will face off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
