There are a lot of questions surrounding the state of the Alabama program following Saturday’s 52-49 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers. This marks the Crimson Tide’s first loss of the season, though they have had close calls against the likes of Texas and Texas A&M.
Now that the team sits outside of the top-5 in the rankings, what exactly is next for them? That’s where several opinions are split. To college football analyst Paul Finebaum, things don’t look good and there’s no room left for anything else to go wrong.
“They have no margin for error, I think that would be an understatement, but what do they have left?,” Finebaum said in They have a game at LSU, a game at Ole Miss and that might be the trickiest one because Lane Kiffin’s team is very good right now. If they win out, they’ll probably play Georgia or Tennessee in the SEC Championship game… They can get back in, but the way this team is playing, they had 15 penalties against Texas, Saban said we’ll correct all that. They had 17 penalties against Tennessee, that’s a bad trend line.”
Alabama will have its next chance to get on the right track as it faces Mississippi State, which is coming off of a 27-17 road loss to Kentucky.
