Paul Finebaum sounded off on Florida State’s 2024 season, a day after the Seminoles dropped to 1-9 after a blowout loss to Notre Dame.

“It is the biggest fall-off in college football history,” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show. “Florida State was a top-10 team when the season began. There’s no excuse for that, and Mike Norvell has literally lost all the goodwill he had from a year ago.”

Barrie noted the success one of the Seminoles’ program legends, Deion Sanders, has had with Colorado in his second year in Boulder.

“From 13-0 to 1-9, while one of your star players is a head coach at Colorado that’s got the Buffaloes and an opportunity to control their own destiny to win the Big 12 and make the Playoff, I mean, we all sit there in the studio and be like, how do you go from 13-0 to 1-9?” Barrie said.

Florida State’s loss to Notre Dame was expected, but it illustrates how far the Seminoles have fallen. Norvell on Sunday made changes to his coaching staff after the loss, firing offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, and wide receivers coach Ron Duggans.

The Seminoles next take the field against FCS Charleston Southern before closing out the campaign with in-state rival Florida.
