Paul Finebaum did not pull any punches when discussing Missouri’s 41-10 loss to Texas A&M.

Finebaum spoke about where Missouri’s program is in the big picture while appearing on the Matt Barrie Show on Sunday.

“They have not proven anything,” Finebaum said. “They have played into the perception of Missouri being a fraudulent top 10 team. They’re a good team, they’re just a fraudulent top 10 team. I don’t see their road back. They have Alabama in a couple weeks in a game that has suddenly gotten really mysterious.”

Those words may seem harsh given that Mizzou won 11 games under Eli Drinkwitz just last season, but a lot of the goodwill from the 2023 team seems to have evaporated over the first 6 weeks of this campaign.

In addition to this blowout loss in College Station, Missouri struggled in wins against Boston College and Vanderbilt last month. The Tigers have had issues on both sides of the ball so far in 2024.

Defensive lapses were somewhat to-be-expected after Missouri lost multiple assistants on that side of the ball this offseason, including defensive coordinator Blake Baker. But the Tigers have also clearly regressed on offense despite returning most of their key coaches and personnel from last season.

Missouri will try to get back on track against UMass next weekend.
