Paul Finebaum eviscerates Jim Harbaugh: ‘He stole a national championship’
You don’t have to look hard to find someone who’s disappointed in the NCAA. The organization seems to routinely zag when everyone else wants it to zig. Their punishment for Michigan and former head coach Jim Harbaugh unsurprisingly fits that bill in the eyes of Paul Finebaum.
Earlier this week on First Take, Finebaum was asked if he believed the NFL should discipline Harbaugh for his role in the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal. The question came after former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer stated as much on the The Triple Option podcast. Finebaum jokingly claimed to make a bit of history, then lit up Harbaugh like a Fourth of July fireworks show.
“[This] is the first time in my entire life I’ve ever agreed with anything Urban Meyer has said,” Finebaum laughed. “But he’s right… what Jim Harbaugh has done is highway robbery. He stole a national championship. It’s as simple as that.”
“He used Connor Stalions and then he lied, he obfuscated, he misled. He’s truly beyond hypocrisy,” Finebaum continued. “And this is the same guy that shot arrows at everybody a couple years earlier. He accused Nick Saban of cheating, accused Kirby Smart. He just blanketly accused everyone. And now look at him holding up a banner. As soon as he gets the bonus, he high-tails it out of town with no penalty.”
Finebaum added that he “doesn’t expect” anyone from the NFL to issue any discipline to Harbaugh. That said, he thinks it would “be nice if somebody acknowledged it” or if Harbaugh “addressed the situation.”
Unfortunately for Finebaum, neither seems likely, which means he’ll have to find another topic to release his frustrations on sooner than later.
