Paul Finebaum flames Alabama for Week 13 showing: ‘Complete and total abomination’

Paul Finebaum sounds disgusted by Alabama’s Week 13 performance against Oklahoma, and it’s hard to blame him.

The Crimson Tide turned in by far their worst showing of the year on Saturday, scoring just 3 points against an Oklahoma team that has lost 5 games this season – one that had lost 4 of its last 5 heading into Saturday’s matchup.

On Monday morning Finebaum discussed the Crimson Tide on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. He didn’t hold anything back:

“I think it was a complete and total abomination,” Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “I don’t ever remember, in an important game. We’ve seen it in unimportant games with inferior coaching. But considering what was at stake, where this team had come from, I cannot remember an Alabama team that looked more clueless, more poorly prepared and executed as woefully as that.”

The thing about this loss that was especially shocking is the complete 180 Alabama took to lose in this fashion. The Tide struggled early in the season, but seemed to have turned a corner after falling to Tennessee in Knoxville.

“It was a historically bad performance, and it’s really too bad because I thought Kalen DeBoer and his staff had done such a really excellent job of bringing this team back from the brink,” Finebaum continued. “…It looks to me like it all went down the drain Saturday night.”

Alabama’s hopes at a CFP berth are all but shot, barring a few very unlikely circumstances. The Tide would need Indiana, SMU, Miami and Clemson – at the very least – to all lose in Week 14. Even then, the Tide might be on the outside looking in.

The Tide face Auburn next weekend at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
