Paul Finebaum names team that impressed him even more than Alabama in Week 5
Paul Finebaum is extremely impressed with what he saw from Colorado in Week 5.
The Buffs were 2-touchdown underdogs on the road at UCF on Saturday, but they cruised to a 48-21 win over the Golden Knights. Shedeur Sanders threw for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns while Travis Hunter continued his elite play on both sides of the ball.
Finebaum went as far as to say Colorado is a “legitimate contender” in the Big 12.
“I am ‘Paul In’ and for the first time since Prime got there two years ago, I think this is a legitimate football team,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter Sunday morning, via On3. “It’s not about hype, it’s not about the stars, it’s about a football team that was the most impressive school to me of all yesterday, and I know that includes Alabama. But this team went on the road to a tough place, a big underdog, and they dominated, and they did it effectively.
“And of course, they had Travis Hunter and Shedeur (Sanders and) everything else that goes with Deion Sanders. But they looked like a real football team instead of a gimmick. And I could not be more impressed. And I think for the first time, they may be a legitimate contender in their league.”
Colorado is now 4-1 on the season with its only loss of the year coming against Nebraska a few weeks ago. The Buffs are 2-0 in Big 12 play after also picking up a win vs. Baylor last weekend.
Deion Sanders’ team has a well-earned bye week in Week 6 but will face Kansas State at home in Week 7.
