On ‘Get Up ‘this morning, Paul Finebaum predicted that Clemson would beat LSU in their opening game this Saturday, and life would become “miserable” for Brian Kelly.

Citing Clemson’s elite defensive line, Finebaum believes that this group could pose some trouble for LSU’s offensive line and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

In terms of Kelly, Finebaum said another season-opening loss would make things complicated for the LSU head coach. Kelly has so far lost every opening game in his tenure at LSU, going 0-3. In 2022 and 2023, LSU lost to Florida State. Last year, LSU lost to USC in its opening game.

“The fans down there are going to go crazy with a loss,” Finebaum said. “Another opening loss, which would be every year Brian Kelly has been there.”

LSU and losing its opening game go back even farther than Brian Kelly’s tenure. In the two seasons before Brian Kelly, LSU lost both of its opening games. Losing to UCLA in 2021 and Mississippi in 2020. Meaning, LSU has lost its last 5 season openers.

Brian Kelly and LSU will look to change that come Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
