Paul Finebaum says Alabama lost more than just a game against Vanderbilt

Paul Finebaum has been talking about the Alabama upset loss to Vanderbilt since the moment that it happened. One of the more iconic moments of anyone talking about the game was when a fan called into his show to vent about the loss.
During a segment on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Tuesday, Finebaum said it wasn’t just a loss on the scoreboard. It was also a loss for the Alabama football mystique.
“You think in a practical fashion,” Finebaum told Mike Greenberg on Get up. “Fans do not… Had they lost to Georgia and then beat Vanderbilt, it still would have been bad. They felt like the Saban era is over, DeBoer is our new guy. He is going to do the same thing that Saban did. That is how fans are; they are irrational and they couldn’t handle this.
“The problem is the mystique and aura over Alabama has been dented. Also, a very difficult schedule with road games at Tennessee, at LSU and at Oklahoma.”

One of those tough road games is just two weeks away as the Crimson Tide will travel to Knoxville to take on the Volunteers. Up first though is a home game against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
