Paul Finebaum sees the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 alliance as ’embarrassing for proud conferences’

In the course of the last week or so, there have been multiple reports about the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 forming some sort of alliance to counter the newly expanded SEC now that it has welcomed Texas and Oklahoma.
Those conferences boast that they offer a wide scope of sports and have an academic profile that mirrors one another. However, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum sees the previous relationships the SEC had with the Big 12 and ACC have now changed as they move into direct competition.
“What all these other leagues are saying is, ‘The SEC has left us behind,'” Finebaum said. “To me, it’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing for proud conferences like the Pac-12, well, let me scratch that. Like the Big Ten and the ACC to join with the Pac-12 and pretty well admit that we’re having to combine forces to compete with the SEC. I still cannot wait for the explanation next week when these commissioners get together about why they left out the Big 12. That’s where all this began. The SEC allegedly raided the Big 12, but these guys are not backing them up either.”
