Paul Finebaum shared a bold take regarding the top of the college football landscape on Sunday morning.

Following a week full of upsets in the SEC, the Big Ten is once again expected to have the top 2 teams on the board when the College Football Playoff rankings are revealed on Tuesday night: Oregon and Ohio State.

Despite Ohio State’s loss in Eugene earlier this year, Finebaum said on Sports Center Sunday morning that he believes the Buckeyes are the best team in the country.

“I don’t think Oregon is the best team in the Big Ten, let alone the favorite to win it all,” Finebaum said. “Thanks Ducks fans, waking up on the west coast, I’m aware that you beat Ohio State. But Ohio State, to me, looks like the best team in the country. I think they’ll have a fun game in a couple of weeks in the Big Ten Championship Game. They’re both going to go to the Playoffs and be in very good shape. But Oregon, to me, looks a tad below Ohio State.”

As Finebaum alluded to, Ohio State will (likely) get its rematch against the Ducks in a couple of weeks. The Buckeyes will clinch a spot in the B1G Championship Game if they defeat Michigan in Week 14.

Ohio State is coming off of a dominant performance over then-No. 5 Indiana, winning 38-15. The Buckeyes controlled the game on both sides of the ball, but particularly on defense. IU scored on its opening drive of the game but then didn’t move the ball with any measure of success until the outcome was no longer in doubt.

Oregon was idle in Week 13. The Ducks will face Washington to close out the regular season while Ohio State hosts the Wolverines.
