Paul Finebaum isn’t one to shy away from big, bold words, especially this time of year and especially to his legions of SEC followers who seek out his analysis on a weekly basis.

So, in his weekly Sunday morning appearance on The Matt Barrie Show, Finebaum kept it real for SEC fans with only a few weeks left in the regular season and with the newest College Football Playoff rankings set to be released on Tuesday night.

And if Finebaum’s words on Sunday hold true, well, there will be some upset SEC football fans come holiday time.

“Mark it down, there’s at least 1, maybe 2 SEC teams that are going to get really screwed,” Finebaum said. “Maybe the loser of the SEC Championship Game. (SEC Commissioner) Greg Sankey was on our show Thursday night already talking about how ‘going to the championship game should be a reward.’ In other words, don’t hold it against the loser.”

And with just those few weeks to go in the regular season, who will be playing in that SEC Championship Game in Atlanta is anyone’s guess. Georgia’s 31-17 takedown of Tennessee on Saturday night in Athens muddied the SEC waters even more than they already were coming into Week 12, so now what?

Well, we get the final few chapters to a riveting first season of the expanded SEC.
