The calendar page flipped to November just in time for Week 10, and according to Paul Finebaum that meant the 10th-ranked Miami Hurricanes were ripe for an upset loss.

The ESPN pundit weighed in Sunday morning about Miami’s 26-20 overtime setback at SMU, pointing out that the Canes have no margin for error if they want to earn 1 of the 12 spots in the College Football Playoff.

“I was just gobsmacked by what bad loss this was. It just seems like we get to November, and here comes Miami every year finding some way to blow their chances,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter. “It just seems like we get to November, and here comes Miami every year finding some way to blow their chances.

“I still think they have a path. They have a really big game later in the season at Pittsburgh, which is a pretty good team. But that’s really about it. So they better get to that ACC Championship Game and win the league it if they want to get to the playoffs.”

Having lost 2 of its past 3 games, Miami (6-2 overall, 2-2 ACC) tries to right the ship at home in Week 11 against Syracuse (3:30 pm ET, ESPN).
