Pete Golding takes apparent jab at Lane Kiffin: ‘I’m not going to yoga’
Pete Golding has a job to do as the new head coach at Ole Miss, replacing the departed Lane Kiffin.
Golding learned with the rest of his coaching staff and players on Sunday that the Rebels are the No. 6 seed for the College Football Playoff and will face No. 11 seed Tulane in a first-round game on Dec. 20 in Oxford (3:30 p.m. ET, TNT). Last Sunday, Golding was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach when Kiffin said goodbye to Ole Miss and hello to LSU.
And a week later, as the Rebels begin preparations for the Green Wave and Golding starts preparing for his first head coaching job, the new man in charge in Oxford wasn’t shy about taking a jab at the man who used to be in charge in Oxford.
According to a social media post on Sunday afternoon by Ben Garrett, who covers Ole Miss for On3, Golding is quite familiar with the fact that Kiffin practiced a good bit of yoga during his days at Ole Miss. And the guy who served as Kiffin’s defensive coordinator since 2023 took the opportunity to call on that hobby of Kiffin’s.
“I’m not changing who I am. I ain’t changing what the hell I wear. I’m not going to yoga,” Golding said. “I ain’t doing any of that s—. I am who I am. We’re going to roll.”
And with that burst of intensity and honesty, Golding was off to do a job in a few weeks, which is try to get Ole Miss past Tulane and into the Playoff quarterfinals.
