You really couldn’t write a better script than the way things turned out for Peyton Manning on Sunday.

The five-time NFL MVP was relegated to backup quarterback duties for the Broncos’ final regular season game on Sunday.

With starter Brock Osweiler struggling against the San Diego Chargers, coach Gary Kubiak called on Manning to save the day.

The former Tennessee QB brought the Broncos from behind for a 27-20 win against the Chargers, securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC for Denver.

Had the Broncos lost, they would have fallen all the way to the No. 5 seed in the conference, which would have not only cost the team a bye week but also home field advantage.

So just when you were ready to count Peyton Manning out, he’s put some serious pressure on the Broncos coaching staff to re-insert him into the lineup for a playoff push.
