Blake Countess’ NFL career is again going in another direction.

On Tuesday, the former Auburn safety was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles with an injury settlement. Countess sustained a hamstring injury during Philadelphia’s preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans this past Thursday.

Countess signed with the Eagles in May after he was cut by the Los Angeles Rams. He had refused to take a $2 million pay cut with the Rams, who he played all 16 games for during the 2018 season. Over three seasons with Los Angeles, Countess had 44 tackles and two interceptions in 37 games.

The Eagles originally drafted Countess in the sixth round in 2016. They waived him on Tuesday to make room on their roster after signing defensive tackle Aziz Shittu.

Countess is expected to be out “multiple weeks” with his hamstring injury, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports. But he should find another NFL team to sign with this season, as long as he is scheduled to come back from this injury.

Countess, who is 26, played one season at Auburn in 2015 after playing the first three years of his college career at Michigan. He had a solid campaign in his only year with the Tigers, collecting 70 tackles and two interceptions.
