Fans may not get to see Jalen Hurts toss any Bombs Over Bryant-Denny until A-Day on April 22, but Druid City Brewing’s customers can check out “Tideknoia” next time they visit the tap room in Tuscaloosa.
The name comes as a tribute to “Stankonia,” the fourth studio album from Atlanta hip-hop duo Outkast. The multi-platinum album is best known for hits “Ms. Jackson”, “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)” and “So Fresh, So Clean”. Artist Rich Marcks chose to draw Big Boi as Nick Saban and Andre 3000 as athletic directory Greg Byrne. The original album cover can be seen next to Marcks’ illustration.
“We had done a lot of classic rock albums and had fun, and I think Outkast’s ‘Stankonia’ is a classic album, it’s just a little more modern,” Bo Hicks told AL.com’s Ben Flanagan.
“Hopefully Coach Saban and Byrne will work as well together as Outkast did on ‘Stankonia.'”
The brewery has a history of mixing Alabama football and classic album covers in its murals.
