Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night during No. 1 Alabama’s game against Arkansas at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Swinney was in T-Town for Alabama’s 1992 national championship reunion, according to a tweet from ESPN College Football. Swinney, a native of Pelham, Ala., played wide receiver for the Crimson Tide from 1989 to 1992.

Swinney’s Tigers have gone toe-to-toe with Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship the last two seasons — beating the Tide 35-31 for the title last year.

Saturday was sort of an interesting time for Swinney to be in Tuscaloosa, as No. 2 Clemson lost in a shocking upset, 27-24, to Syracuse on Friday night.

It’s not every day you see the head coach of an elite Power 5 program attending the game of another elite Power 5 program, but this was a special circumstance.

Alabama was leading Arkansas 17-0 at the time of this post, nearing the end of the first quarter.
