The Georgia-Florida rivalry runs deep with long memories.
So it was no surprise when Danny Wuerffel’s car was recently posterized, and a police officer with UGA ties all but looked the other way.

Weurffel’s history with Georgia dates most notably to the “half a hundred” game, as Steve Spurrier called it. With Jacksonville Memorial Stadium under construction in the mid-1990s, the Florida-Georgia game was moved to each campus in 1994 and 1995. In the 1995 game, Weurffel passed for 242 yards and five touchdowns before leaving the game in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Eric Kresser tacked on more TDs, including one with 1:21 remaining, to make the final score 52–17.
The 1996 Heisman Trophy from Florida winner now works as executive director for Desire Street Ministries, a nonprofit, faith-based organization in New Orleans.
