For hundreds of football players, NFL Draft weekend is about opportunity and a lifelong dream coming true. The NFL, however, is also a business and teams are making roster decisions. The Pittsburgh Steelers made a business decision and now former Florida LB Jon Bostic is looking for a new team.

The Steelers announced Bostic’s contract had been terminated Saturday. Bostic was a 14-game starter at linebacker for Pittsburgh last season, but the team is looking for new blood at the position, drafting former Michigan LB Devin Bush at No. 10 overall and former Akron LB Ulysses Gilbert III in Round 6. The team also signed former Alabama LB Mark Barron this offseason.

The 27-year-old Bostic has recorded 313 combined tackles in his NFL career, including 73 last season (with a career-high 2.5 sacks). That resume should get him plenty of training camp invites and the chance to continue playing in the league, but it’s certainly rough to go from starter to cut in the offseason. A second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, Bostic has bounced around the league, also playing in New England, Detroit and Indianapolis.
