The biggest question on the minds of everyone in Big Blue Nation is the status of PJ Washington. That also appears to be true of everyone covering Kentucky’s upcoming appearance in the Sweet 16 against Houston.

Washington, Reid Travis and Keldon Johnson met with the media on Thursday and four of the first five questions were not only directed at Washington, but they all also had to do with his status looking ahead to the Houston game.

The first question asked of Washington was his status and if he planned to play against Houston.

“I’m trying to get back to playing but right now it’s up in the air,” Washington answered.

He was then asked how he has been dealing with the last few weeks and missing the opening of the NCAA Tournament:

“I’m in a good place, I went to go get checked out and the doctors said pretty much good things so I’m happy with where I’m at and I’m just trying to get better.”

Then asked he will practice on Thursday and if he can even walk:

“I walked over here, so that’s good. I don’t know yet, I’m thinking about giving it a go.”

Finally, he was asked two more questions on his status in anticipation for the Houston game:

“I feel good, it’s more about seeing if I can go out there and do stuff on the court.”

“I haven’t put any pressure on it yet, I just want to go out there (on the court) and see what I can do.”
