After Arkansas parted ways with Athletics Director Jeff Long, his role with the College Football Playoff committee was in question.

Long, who previously served as Arkansas AD from 2008 until Wednesday, has more than 35 years of college football experience as an administrator, coach and athlete. Long has worked at nine FBS schools.

Long has been involved with the CFP committee for several years.

In January, 2016, he stepped down as chairman after he held the position as the spokesman for the group for the previous two seasons.

But in light of Wednesday’s news, Executive Director Bill Hancock issued a statement that said that Long would continue his work with the committee.

“In consultation with the Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, the College Football Playoff management committee today voted unanimously to ask Jeff Long, the former Director of Athletics for the University of Arkansas, to continue his service as a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee. Mr. Long has accepted the invitation and he will serve for the remainder of this season.”
