Colorado may not be playing football this fall but that doesn’t mean the leadership at the school isn’t hard at work trying to replace the revenue lost from a potential season of football that may not be played.

On Tuesday, the school announced a five-year partnership with PointsBet, which is a “premier global gaming operator” according to a released issued by Colorado.

According to CU, this is the first-ever deal between a Division I NCAA program and a sportsbook.

PointsBet is based out of Denver and is “viewed as a market leader for its responsible gaming efforts, and the partnership with CU Athletics will emphasize and create awareness around responsible gaming and sports betting education,” according to a release issued by the school.

This deal encompasses free-to-play sports games, daily fantasy sports, casino, online casino, and retail and online sports betting. The sportsbook plans to advertise its sportsbook at the program’s Folsom Field and the CU Events Center through gameday promotions and advertising space.

Following this news, whenever Colorado does return to the gridiron, fans will likely have the ability to live wager on college football games from their seat, include Buffaloes games.

Legal sports gambling in Colorado was made legal in May. Before that, sports gambling was illegal in the state.
