Ed Orgeron’s career arc will be shaped by the events inside Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, but the SEC West as a division will tighten into focus. Meanwhile the careers of four SEC East coaches will also have a key chapter written by Sunday morning, but which fan bases will want to read it?
Here are our headline predictions for Week 10:
Georgia Southern at Ole Miss: Rebels rebound
Although the Eagles churn their fair share of rushing yards and make things interesting, the Rebels right the ship and calm the nerves in the second half to keep their bowl hopes alive.
Texas A&M at Mississippi State: Long Knight for Bulldogs
Trevor Knight passes for two touchdowns for a fourth consecutive game as the Bulldogs’ skid continues and bowl hopes officially become a distant hope.
Vanderbilt at Auburn: White wings it over ‘Dores
Auburn QB Sean White throws a TD pass for a fifth consecutive game as he propels the Tigers to victory after Vanderbilt keeps the vaunted running game in check. Ralph Webb collects his fourth 100-yard game in the loss. Webb needs 230 yards to become Vanderbilt’s career rushing leader, but he’ll have to wait at least another week.
Florida at Arkansas: Pick party spoils Hogs’ night
The Gators extend Austin Allen’s interception streak to four games and 10 on the season as Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson each make a pick. Antonio Callaway, meanwhile, has his third 100-yard receiving game of the season in the win.
Missouri at South Carolina: Rico rumbles over Tigers
The Gamecocks’ other freshman sensation, Rico Dowdle, stretches his touchdown streak to four games and picks up where the Kentucky offense started against the suspect Tigers defense. Drew Lock, meanwhile, struggles against the short-handed South Carolina secondary.
Tennessee Tech at Tennessee: Jalen who? Kelly rumbles over Golden Eagles
The spotlight focus remains on the Vols’ backfield, but this time the news shifts to the budding star of John Kelly, who rumbles for 100 yards before halftime as the Vols coast.
Georgia at Kentucky: Chubb restores order
Nick Chubb busts out of a mini-slump and delivers a two-touchdown 120-yard performance to calm the nerves of a restless fan base. Kentucky, meanwhile, regroups with its sights set on locking up a bowl against Austin Peay.
Alabama at LSU: Damien outshines Fournette
In a toe-to-toe battle of top running backs, Damien Harris shakes off a season of nagging injuries as the Crimson Tide walk into Tiger Stadium and keep the perfect season alive. Leonard Fournette has a solid game, but Danny Etling’s two interceptions doom the Tigers.
