Quinn Ewers believes last season had a lot to do with getting in his own head, and the Texas quarterback has reset himself entering this season.
During an interview with Sirius XM, Ewers shared how last season was a new experience for him in terms of not winning as much as he’s used to. The Longhorns finished 8-5 as Ewers was injured against Alabama and missed the next 3 games. He then returned, but completed less than 60% of his passes for 4 straight games.
“I think the adversity more than anything was my own head,” he said. “I’ve never really been through a situation like that, where I wasn’t playing how I wanted to. I was pretty successful in high school. Didn’t lose a whole lot of games in high school, and then coming to Texas, we have really passionate fans and I kind of let that catch up to myself, and went down some rabbit holes I probably shouldn’t have been looking at on social media and stuff like that.”
Ewers believes he learned plenty from last season to apply to this year, and knows that the Longhorns lean on each other a lot more, which is what he believes is needed to win.
