Quinn Ewers left Texas’ Week 8 over Houston with an injury. While the Longhorns held on for a 31-24 win, the status of Ewers was a major question mark coming out of the game.
The outlook for Ewers was revealed with Sunday reports pointing to an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. Anwar Richardson was the first to report the news with ESPN’s Pete Thamel also reporting the news.
According to Thamel, Ewers’ injury is a “grade 2 AC joint sprain” that is expected to keep the quarterback sidelined for some time. The injury is not considered season-ending at this point and a more specific timetable is expected to be revealed this week.

Ewers has been fantastic for the Longhorns this season while completing right at 71% of his passes for 1,915 yards and 13 touchdowns with 3 interceptions and 5 rushing touchdowns. Despite the loss to Oklahoma, Texas maintains serious CFP hopes as the No. 7 team in the country and a manageable schedule.
Moving forward, Texas plays BYU, Kansas State and TCU in the next 3 weeks. BYU and Kansas State are both 5-2 so far this season, so the Longhorns will be looking to get Ewers back healthy as soon as possible.
