In what’s likely his final few months at Alabama, Crimson Tide DL Quinnen Williams is picking up some hardware.
The Touchdown Club of Columbus (Ohio) announced Tuesday that Williams is the winner of this year’s Bill Willis Award, given to the best defensive lineman in the country. The award went to Clemson’s Christian Wilkins last season. The most recent prior winner from the SEC was Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett in 2015.
Williams has impressed throughout the season with dominating performances, particularly against LSU, a game many experts opined sent him surging up draft boards around the country. The redshirt sophomore is No. 14 nationally with 18 tackles for loss. He is also No. 35 in the country in sacks (8).
UA will be counting on Williams to turn in another strong performance in the College Football Playoff semifinal against No. 4 Oklahoma on Dec. 29.
