The St. Louis Rams are taking it easy with first-round pick Todd Gurley, who looks like he’s getting back to full strength in camp following an ACL injury last November at Georgia.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said after Friday’s game against Oakland that he’ll keep Gurley off the field the remainder of the preseason to keep him healthy.

He did warm-up with the team prior to their bout with the Raiders.

“I’m not going to play him for at least the rest of preseason. But the warmup benefit is certainly part of his rehab, and it’s really good experience for him,” Fisher said, according to ESPN.

Reports indicate Gurley is moving well on his surgically-repaired knee and speed won’t be an issue when he returns to full strength.

In the meantime, St. Louis isn’t taking any chances.
