Rapid Reaction: Auburn demolishes Tennessee to win first SEC Tournament title since 1985

Heading into Sunday’s SEC Tournament final, everyone expected the red-hot Auburn Tigers to play well, whether they beat the Tennessee Volunteers or not.
However, no one expected what actually happened, as the Tigers absolutely demolished the Vols en route to their first SEC tourney title since 1985. Even with a bit of a sluggish game from PG Jared Harper, the Tigers dominated from the opening tip in the 84-64 win.
Harper went 0-for-9 from the field, but still scored five points. Bryce Brown and Chuma Okeke led the way, scoring 19 and 18 points, respectively. The Tigers set an SEC Tournament record with 15 three pointers, showcasing what makes them so dangerous.
Lamonte Turner led the Vols, scoring a game-high 22 points, but it wasn’t enough, as the Vols fell in Nashville.
Yes, it would have been nice for the Vols and their fans to get a title this year, but not all is lost for Tennessee. They’ll still likely be a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and may be placed in the Louisville regional.
Meanwhile, the Tigers have really helped themselves when it comes to tourney seeding. We’ll see soon what line they end up on.
