Georgia got whatever it wanted in a 45-7 win over Marshall on Saturday to open the Bulldogs’ 2025 campaign.

The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (1-0) had a 24-0 lead at the halftime break and didn’t surrender their first points of the game until just over 10 minutes were left on the clock. Quarterback Gunner Stockton, making his debut as the official QB1 in the Georgia offense, threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for 2 more to lead the scoring.

Stockton’s legs were a major part of the story. He ran 10 times for 73 yards to lead all Georgia players. As a team, Georgia ran for 239 yards, its best rushing performance in a season opener since 2019.

USC transfer receiver Zachariah Branch was also electric in his debut. He caught 3 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown, taking a swing pass in the third quarter 47 yards to the house for his first score as a Bulldog. Between Stockton and backup Ryan Puglisi, Georgia’s quarterbacks completed passes to 12 different players.

Branch’s brother, Zion, also a USC transfer, led the defense with 7 tackles. Raylen Wilson and Gabe Harris Jr. each recorded 2 tackles for loss.

Georgia hosts Austin Peay next Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
