It was another record-setting day for Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond.

Not surprisingly, that led to a blowout victory for the Aggies, who beat South Carolina 48-3 on the road.

Mond’s 52-yard touchdown pass to 3rd-string running back Devon Achane in the 3rd quarter was his 4th of the evening. It came as easily as the ones that preceded it. The score put Mond at 68 career touchdown passes as an Aggie, making him the school’s all-time leader in that category. It came just a week after Mond became A&M’s leader in total yards.

He finished 16-of-26 for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns Saturday.

A&M did everything it wanted to on both sides of the ball. It seemed most of the Aggies touchdowns came with little resistance; countless times they walked the final few steps into the end zone. Jalen Wydermyer was targeted often near the end zone, scoring 2 touchdowns in the first half.

Isaiah Spiller continued his dominance on the ground to finish with 131 yards on 18 carries.

The Aggies’ defense looked the best it has all season, bottling up Kevin Harris for just 39 yards. Harris entered the game as the SEC’s second-leading rusher. A&M also came away with a pair of interceptions.

The victory improved A&M to 5-1 on the season and dropped the Gamecocks to 2-4. It also made Aggie coach Jimbo Fisher 6-1 against South Carolina’s Will Muschamp and 3-0 at A&M.

The victory bolsters the Aggies postseason chances, especially after Florida beat Georgia on Saturday afternoon. For the Gamecocks, it marks their 2nd straight loss.

South Carolina will look to get back on track next week against Ole Miss. The Aggies will hope to keep rolling against Tennessee.
