No. 12-seed Missouri is marching on to the second round of the 2022 SEC Tournament with a 72-60 win that sends No. 13-seed Ole Miss home.

The Tigers and Rebels were tied at the half 32-32, with Ole Miss leading for over 13 minutes. Cuonzo Martin’s squad came out strong in the second half, establishing a double-digit lead that got up to 15 points (54-42, 8:53). Kobe Brown led the second-half charge, scoring 12 of his team-leading 16 points. Ronnie DeGary III was also in double figures, scoring all 14 of his points in the first half.

MU shot an impressive 54 percent from the floor (27-of-50). The Tigers committed more turnovers (12-7), but won the box score battles when it came to rebounds (37-30), bench points (23-17) and points in the paint (40-34). Ole Miss shot 41 percent, 23-of-56 from the floor. Both teams were 4-of-14 from 3-point territory.

Mizzou will face No. 5-seed LSU in Thursday’s second game of the second round. Round 2 opens with Texas A&M vs. Florida at noon ET.

LSU and Mizzou met once during the 2021-22 season. The Feb. 26 Battle of the Tigers went to LSU. Will Wade’s squad won that game 75-55 in Baton Rouge.

Depth may soon catch up to Mizzou. For the most part, the Tigers played 7 players on Wednesday night. Guard Kaleb Brown was limited to just 4 minutes of playing time.

Mizzou went 3-0 against Ole Miss in 2022, also winning on Jan. 18 in Oxford (75-53) and on Feb. 12 in Columbia (74-68).
