Ole Miss got back on track. It better have against Wofford in the only game against a non-Top 25 opponent in September.
The No. 19 Rebels beat Wofford 38-13 on Saturday at the new-look Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
What it means: It means Ole Miss did what it needed to do before SEC games against Alabama next week and the following week against Georgia.
What I liked: The Rebels new bowled-in stadium was the perfect place to bowl over a team they should have. Again, the passing game shined. Nine players caught passes, six of them at least two catches. Damore’ea Stringfellow and Van Jefferson combined for 9Â catches for 71 yards. Junior slot receiver Markell Pack showed the difference he can make with 3Â grabs for 46 yards and a touchdown.
What I didn’t like: Not much to not like, but allowing 233 rushing yards to Wofford isn’t all that appeasing. The Terriers rushed for 4.1 yards a carry off 57 carries. Also, Ole Miss allowed Wofford to go 2-for-3 on fourth down. That’s not a stat you want to see a lot of against any team.
Who’s the man: Chad Kelly did what he needed to do. He was 20-of-27 for 219 yards and 3Â touchdowns. Most importantly, no picks. He spread it around efficiently.
Key play(s): Pack’s touchdown came with 7:11 seconds left in the first quarter. The team needed that to break through in a season already trending with upsets.
What’s next: Ole Miss has Alabama. It’s needless to say anything else.
