Rapid Reaction: Texas A&M survives despite lackluster performance vs. UMass

Texas A&M hosted a UMass team that entered Saturday’s Week 12 game in College Station with a 1-9 overall record.
This was supposed to be an easy win for the 3-7 Aggies, a get-right game ahead of next week’s regular-season finale against SEC West-champion LSU. Instead, the Aggies had to fight and claw their way to a win with a lackluster effort in front of a scarce crowd.
At the end of the cold, wet Saturday in College Station, the Aggies had managed to fight their way to a 20-3 victory, handing UMass its 10th loss of the year.
The Aggies only managed to find the end zone once against the Minutemen in the first 2 quarters. It came in the second quarter on this pass from Conner Weigman to Noah Thomas:

With Texas A&M driving before halftime, the Minutemen forced another turnover, their second of the day, on this play:

As has been the case for most of this season, the defense played really well, while the offense floundered and struggled to put points on the board.
The Aggies took a 10-3 lead into halftime. After the intermission (which saw most of the Kyle Field crowd clear out, too), it was a boring third quarter, with A&M tacking a field goal on to extend its lead to 13-3.
In the fourth quarter, the Aggie ground game found the end zone, with Le’Veon Moss scoring on this 12-yard run:

The Aggies are now 4-7 on the season. They’ll finish up their 2022 campaign next Saturday against No. 6 LSU. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN.
