Rece Davis liked Georgia even without Brock Bowers in the lineup and thinks the Bulldogs will cover the spread against Florida.

Bowers will miss the Florida game due to ankle surgery. However, that won’t change Davis’ mind about the spread. Georgia is currently favored by 14.5 points as of Thursday’s College GameDay Podcast.

Davis referenced past games in the rivalry, but remained firm on his stance that Georgia will cover.

“In ’76, they (Florida) had a chance to win their first-ever SEC championship and Georgia beat them, Davis said. “They had an infamous ‘4th and dumb’ call. They had the lead and went for it on their own 29 and ended up getting beat. In ’85, Florida was No. 1 for the first time in school history and the Dawgs destroyed them. It’s gone both ways over the years.

“This is like the perfect spot for Florida to do this to Georgia and I just don’t believe it. I’m going to take the Dawgs and the points, even without Brock Bowers.”

Last season’s meeting ended with a 42-20 Georgia victory. Florida has not beaten the Bulldogs since shortened 2020 season.

Both teams are coming off of the bye week into a classic rivalry matchup. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
