Rece Davis reveals he has a new No. 1 team after Saturday’s developments

Rece Davis made waves in SEC country entering the season when he started the year with Michigan at No. 1. His explanation was that Carson Beck and some other Georgia players were not yet proven, and Michigan had a more experienced QB in JJ McCarthy.
That changed this week, as Davis has Georgia No. 1 after he had Florida State in the top spot the previous week.
“I still think Florida State’s resume is better,” Davis said on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday. “But Michigan and Georgia have both taken care of business and continued to improve.”
It’s a different Bulldog team than he saw entering the season.
“Georgia had room to grow like I was talking about with Alabama on offense,” Davis said. “Based on what I saw, particularly in the first half Saturday night against Kentucky, they have taken gargantuan steps in that regard. Carson Beck just gets better every time he takes a snap.”
Davis later admitted that “there’s not a head and shoulders best team in the country,” but Georgia is in the mix with the likes of Michigan, Florida State and Washington also have claims that are reasonable to be No. 1.
